Ho’oponopono is an act of restoring and maintaining good relationships among families. From a kanaka maoli, Hawaiian perspective, it was the family’s responsibility and opportunity to work together to find resolve to a problem and to set things right among themselves and their ancestors. Ho’oponopono allows families to use their beliefs, traditions, and their relationships to continue to build skills as a family, right wrongs, discuss forgiveness, and restore pono, or wellbeing to the family.
