Tyra Dahlin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and received a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology with an Emphasis in Community Counseling from Chaminade University. Her clinical experience includes over 19 years working within the mental health field and for the State of Hawaii, Department of Health.
As a conscientious clinician and therapist, Tyra’s work experiences have included but are not limited to family, individual, and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and program development. Once Tyra has carefully completed her initial, clinical assessment and together with her clients she will chart a plan for treatment identifying both goals and timelines for best outcomes. Tyra is comfortable in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Tyra always applies best practices in mental health and treatment approaches.
Preferred therapies include gestalt, Trauma Focused cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, reality, and positive psychology. She possesses specialized training in trauma informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy. Tyra is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Counseling Association and continuously engages in ongoing learning for professional development and to understand the latest research in mental health.
Tyra’s philosophy is strength based, humanistic and culturally sensitive. Treatment objectives are to foster personal growth, resilience, and assist with processing past events which may be impacting current circumstances. Tyra is passionate about helping individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, parenting and relationship issues to empower clients to live fulfilling and more meaningful lives.
